A 2nd round of gunfire was reported on Monday night in Mt. Vernon, occurring along the 500 block of South 17th Street in Mt. Vernon.  21-year-old Robert Grady, of St. Louis, was the man who was shot earlier in the day.  According to Mt. Vernon Police, they recovered shell casings from the gunfire at the scene, with no injuries reported or no damage to vehicles or buildings discovered.  The gunfire was reportedly at 935pm on Monday.  Police say that Grady’s injuries are related to the shooting, since he was at a St. Louis area hospital treating his gunshot wounds.  He reportedly walked up to a home along the street, and told the residents that he had been shot in the back and needed medical help.  Grady was in stable condition.  Grady reportedly was an associate with Carlos Johnson, who was shot to death in Mt. Vernon back in 2017 at a bowling alley, with the shooter Roderick Oats Jr. being sentenced to 65 years in prison for the murder.  Anyone who can provide any additional information is asked to get in contact with the Mt. Vernon Police Department at 618-242-21-31.
