The Washington County Coroner’s Office announces that they found a missing man, who was reported missing on Monday night. The body of 72-year-old Joseph Kujawa of Ashley was found, with the Coroner pronouncing him dead at the location at 220am on Tuesday. The Sheriff’s Department received a call from the wife at approximately 9pm, saying that she last saw her husband at 3pm. He never returned home, so the family began to look for him and located his truck at the Virginia Road location. At approximately 1208am, the Washington County Search and Recovery Team was dispatched to 32-28 Virginia Road in Radom, at a property of a relative the area, with the body was found at approximately 130am. It appeared that Mr. Kujawa was attempting to feed fish in the pond, when he lost his footing on the muddy bank and fell into the water. His body was recovered from the pond by the Ashley Fire Department, along with assistance from the Washington County Ambulance Service, Washington County ESDA and the County Coroner. Also assisting included the Irvington Police Department and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. The cause of death was determined to be an accidental drowning, with no autopsy or inquest planned. No other information is available at this time.
