Bail is set at $150,000 in Marion County, after a Centralia man allegedly shot a woman who was passing through, then later holding the woman captive at gunpoint.  27-year-old Lamar Bennett was formally charged with a Class 1 felony for aggravated discharge of a firearm, a Class 3 felony for aggravated unlawful restraint by using a deadly weapon and a misdemeanor for domestic battery.  Prosecutors claim that Bennett had fired a gun in the direction of the alleged female victim, as she sat in a car along West Kell Street in Centralia.  Bennett then allegedly was armed later that day and would not allow the same woman to leave the residence where she was held up, which lasted around a day.  Bennett then left the home and was later charged with the domestic battery.  Bennett allegedly terrorized the victim, and threatened her through texting while she was being treated at an area hospital.  According to police, he was on parole at the time from the Illinois Department of Corrections, in regard to a drug-related conviction from 2017, stemming from an armed robbery at the FuelVend in Centralia.
