A man from Ina is expected to have his sentencing today in Jefferson County, in regard to charges of sexually assaulting 2 underage girls. 58-year-old Anthony Williams was convicted during his July bench trial, but has filed a motion for a new trial in the case. 3 days of the trial was held in the middle of June, and was delayed for 2 weeks, with the remainder being reset until July, when the court ordered a transcript for the proceedings. They were then advised that it would take the defense motion under advisement. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Williams in January of this year, where he was charged with 2 Class 1 felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a family member, and 2 Class 2 felonies of aggravated criminal sexual abuse to a victim under 13-years-old. Court records show that the alleged offenses took place in January of 2007 and then again in August or October of 2016. Williams has been in the Jefferson County Jail since his January arrest, with bail set at $500,000.
