A man from Centralia receives 2nd and 3rd degree burns, after his mobile home along the 1200 block of North Sycamore Street caught fire. Centralia City firefighters responded to the scene on Saturday afternoon, in regard to a report of Robert Parker Jr. being burned from a mobile home fire. Parker Jr. was taken to an area hospital for treatment of his 2nd and 3rd degree burns. The fire started inside the mobile home at around 2pm on Saturday, which included Parker Jr., 2 boys, and 2 young girls. The two girls, ages 6 and 7, were able to get out of the home safely, however, Parker feared that the 2 boys were still inside the home. Firefighters conducted a search and could not find the 2, but the 9 and 10-year-old boys were later found playing at another location. It is believed at this time that the fire was started from a furnace malfunction, resulting in flames to spread throughout the home. The exterior walls and roof remained intact, but all possessions inside the home were lost. The mobile home was rented to Elizabeth Walton, who was not home at the time of the incident. The home is owned by Doug Meyers of Centralia. All available Centralia City firefighters were called to the scene, with additional help from the Centralia Fire Protection District. Firefighters were on the scene for around 2 and ½ hours.
