The Nashville City Council met on Thursday, for a regular meeting at city hall. At the meeting, they approved a purchase of over $4,000 of LED lighting for all city buildings, which was won by the lowest bidder in Power Trans Plus in DuBois. Those buildings include the library, golf course, sew plants, police department, street department, water plant and city hall. The city was also recognized with the Progressive City Award from Ameren for $2,500, which they received in November. Police Chief Brian Fletcher also stated that any citizen who has a golf cart permit inside of city limits will need to contact the department to renew their cart. A $300 donation was also approved on Thursday for the Washington County Arts Council. Also the compost site announces that they will be open once again on April 4th from 8 to 4pm and open Wednesdays and Saturdays. The all-trash collection dates were also for May 5th, 9th and 12th. In regard to the motor fuel tax resolution, the council approved to have a big letting date of March 20th. The Illinois Department of Transportation also approved the city’s resolution.
