Nashville District 49 and their board of education met on Thursday for a regular monthly meeting.  At the meeting they approved the updated 2019-2020 school calendar, which will be posted on their website, after being approved by the Illinois Public Schools Calendar.  It was also announced that the state owes the district over $250,000 in transportation and pre-school grant money.  The district is expected to receive another transportation and pre-school payment from the state before the year ends.  Superintendent Mike Brink said that the district is in good shape, with March being the 75-percent mark on the school year.  The board did go into closed session during their meeting, in order to discuss personnel and collective bargaining.  Approved included the certified personnel and non-certified personnel employment list for 2019-2020.  2 retired teachers were placed on a separate list, since they work as part-time help for the district.  Since they are paid entirely out of grant money, they must wait until the money is received and approved by the state, before they can be re-hired for next year.  This was done as a pre-cautionary measure, until the grant money situation is figured out.  The economic interest statements have also been officially filed to the county clerk.  Brink announced that the district will have a new financial software program, which is anticipated on being fully-implemented by next month.  Also an update was given on the surveillance camera equipment, with several quotes being brought in.  Brink said that the new and additional cameras will be placed at the school, on the school van and on the bus.  That will be moving forward to next month’s meeting for District 49.
