Kaskaskia College and their Board of Trustees met on Monday for a regular monthly meeting.  At that meeting, they elected to approve an agreement with Southern Illinois University in Carbondale on 4 new articulation agreements.  That includes aid for graduates who finish up at KC and plan on continuing their education at SIU.  The associate’s degrees included are in fine arts for music education, arts for speech communication, science in welding and science in industrial technology.  The agreement ensures that a KC graduate in any of these 4 programs will smoothly transition into a bachelor’s program at SIUC, with all KC credits being accepted.  KC now has over 40 agreements with more than 13 colleges and university, as they continue to partner with institutions of higher education to provide a seamless transition from KC to their next destination.  The college’s Wed-enhanced fee of $5 per credit hour to a $10 course fee was approved.  The fee is only in effect for all non-online, online proctored or hybrid courses.  This change is expected to save students around $5-per course.  A number of campus renovation projects were also approved on Monday.  Mideastern Plumbing and Heating of Carlyle was awarded a bid to upgrade the heating and cooling system at the main campus.  Kohrmann Electric of Bartelso was approved for their bid to replace classroom lighting fixtures with new LED light fixtures, that are more energy efficient and provide better lighting.  The Nashville Education Center Director Ruth Barczewski and Vandalia Campus Director Mary Schulze had their letter of resignation approved, effective at the end of the spring semester.  Barczewski provided 45 years of employment at Kaskaskia, while Schulze had been at the school for 15 years.  The KC Choir will also be having their winter concert, titled, “songs of Life, Laughter and Love,” which will be presented on Thursday, February 14th at 730, at the Jane Knight Auditorium.  Admission is free for all who attend.
