The Nashville City Council met on Thursday for a regular meeting.  During that meeting, two members were given plaques for their retirement from the council.  Terry Kozusek was given one for his 18 years on the council and Dennis Kellerman got one for his 4 years.  The Police Department announced that they have officially received their new Ford Sudan squad car, with the council approving the purchase of in car video surveillance for the car.  They gave the approval for up to $5,000 for that equipment, which will come out of the DUI fund.  Plus a purchase of an AED for the squad car was approved, which will come out of the gambling fund.  Also the council discussed a possible ordinance change to allow ATV driving in town, only if the resident would apply and sign up for a permit to do that, similar to the golf cart permits.  Under Water and Sewer, the council approved a yearly purchase of a lagoon aerator purchase from Municipal Equipment Company, for a cost of $10,950.  The water and sewer department also has completely finished up their annual flushing in town.  A hazardous ditch was discussed on Thursday, along High Street and just off of Kaskaskia Street.  There is around 5 or 6 feet ditch, with a 48-inch culvert on the east end that drains lots of water, and has erosion issues, inside of the narrow street.  Apparently there have been no issues for driving or walking residents, but Street Superintendent Richard Schuette says that can cause potential problems.  This hazardous ditch will be brought up at another meeting, after more information is gathered.  A donation was given by the city for the Ladies Golf Tournament at the Nashville Municipal Golf Course sometime in June for $100.  The next city council meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 2nd.
