The Nashville City Council met last night and the new Director of the Nashville Public Library was announced.  Dennis Gregory will take over for current Director Linda Summers when she retires this summer.  Melody Wilkey, NPL Personnel Committee Chairperson, says Gregory has been the Director of the New Baden Public Library for the past 6 years and was a grade school teacher.  She says he also works on the same system that the Nashville library uses, so he is very familiar with the way things are done.  He officially takes over on June 29th.  Wilkey says they had several phone calls, then 7 applicants, which was cut down to 4.  At this time, Gregory does not plan to move to Nashville, but there is a city policy that full-time employees need to live within 6 miles of the city limits, so it would fall to them to make an exception.
