The Okawville Community Fire Protection District purchases a 5-acre site, near the interstate, for a possibility on building a new fire house. The tact was purchased for $87,000 from Bridgeport Properties, who were owned by Lyle Hackstadt and Arnold Schmale. Fire chief James Rossel says that a larger fire house is needed, since the equipment that his department uses is too large. No immediate plans are being made for constructions, but the 1st steps will be to determine the costs and if grants are available.
