The Mt. Vernon Police Department responded to a Saturday morning shooting, along the 400 block of South 17^th Street in Mt. Vernon.  Officers received a call at around 3am on Saturday, where a female allegedly had been shot.  Responding agencies included the Mt. Vernon Police Department, Mt. Vernon Fire Department and the Litton’s Ambulance Service.  Officers were at the scene 1^st, where they made contact with the female and gave 1^st aid until medical personnel arrived.  She was then transported to an area hospital for treatment of her non-life-threatening injuries.  During an investigation, a person of interest was identified, with officers checking several locations around Mt. Vernon for the subject, but were unable to locate the person.  The investigation is ongoing on this shooting.
