A teenage student from Franklin Park was arrested on Wednesday, after making alleged verbal threats against 5 other students. According to the Salem Police Department, the male 14-year-old student allegedly made the treats to another student regarding a list of 5 people. That student ended up reporting that threat to school administrators, who immediately got in contact with Salem police. The parent of the student who made the alleged threat was then contacted, with the student’s home, lock and locker area all searched. No list or weapons were found. It is unclear if weapons were mentioned in that threat. Classes resumed as normal on Wednesday, but a robocall was made to all parents, explaining the situation. The 14-year-old was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, but the Marion County State’s Attorney will ultimately decide what to do, if any charges will be filed. It is unclear whether the juvenile remained in custody.
