A federal judge decides to change the trial of a man, who faces charges of 1st-degree murder in the 2017 slaying of a University of Illinois scholar from China. The trial will be moved from Urbana, to Peoria. The request came in from Brendt Christensen’s attorneys, to a Peoria-based US District Judge, who approved the request for change of venue. Christensen is charged with kidnapping and for death, in regard to the death of Yingying Zhang, who has been missing since June 9th, 2017. Her body has not yet been found. Government attorneys have said that they plan to seek the death penalty, because Christensen allegedly tortured Zhang, before he killed her. Jury selection for the trial is scheduled to begin in April 2019.
