EAST ST. LOUIS — A 46-year-old Alma man has been sentenced this week to almost 16 years in federal prison after he earlier pleaded guilty to all counts from an indictment charging him with drug and weapons charges.

John M. Doyle was sentenced Tuesday in East St. Louis Federal Court to 188 months in prison on Counts 1, 2, 3, and four and 120 months on count five of a five count federal indictment to be served concurrently. He’ll have to serve three-years parole at the end of his prison sentence.

Doyle was arrested in October of 2020 at his home in the 4500 block of Kinoka Road in Marion County following a months long investigation led by the South Eastern Illinois Drug Task Force agents who used confidential buyers to purchase large quantities of methamphetamine.

Agents of the drug task force, assisted by the US Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force and the Marion County Sheriff’s Department took Doyle into custody and executed a search warrant of Doyle’s residence locating additional controlled substances, ammunition, and a firearm.
