CLINTON COUNTY — A 30-year-old Carlyle man pleaded guilty Wednesday in Clinton County Court to two of four child sex offenses and is facing up to 60 years in prison when sentenced.

Michael Parker pleaded guilty to counts one and two in the case charging him with Class X felony predatory criminal sexual assault of a child under the age of 13 in exchange for two Class 2 felony charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim under the age of 9 being dismissed.
Parker agreed to a maximum sentence of 30 years on each count to be served consecutively.

Sentencing in the case is scheduled for November 16.

The court advised the defendant that it is not bound by the prosecutor’s sentencing recommendation of serving 85% of the ultimate sentence and also three years to life of parole.

Probation Services was ordered to conduct a presentencing investigation in the case.

The charges reportedly stem from incidents last summer. Parker has remained in the Clinton County Jail since his January arrest with bond set at $500,000
