Alice Louise Hale, 97, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 2:29 pm September 17, 2022 at her residence.

She was born August 12, 1925 in Mount Vernon to the late Max and Dixie (Carnahan) Piercy.

Alice first married Joe Glenn Moore, Jr. on June 23, 1946. He preceded her in death on April 21, 1987. She later married Claude E. Spurlock on January 6, 1990. He preceded her in death in March 2004. Alice then married Floyd Hale and he preceded her in death in 2018.  Alice is survived by her son, Michael Moore of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Alyssa Moore and Karley D Moore and fiancé, Paul Shields; brother, Norman A Piercy and wife, Gerry of Mount Vernon; great-grandchildren, Audrey Vohlken, Harrison Shields, Oliver Shields, and Nora Shields; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and husbands, Alice was preceded in death by her daughter, JoAnn Huxtable and brother, James G. Piercy.  Alice was a faithful member of Wesley United Methodist Church for many years. She attended the Win One Class at Wesley and was also a member of the Jefferson County Happy Homemakers Club and the Red Hat Society. Alice was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She will be deeply missed.

A Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at New Shiloh Cemetery in Mount Vernon. Memorials may be made in Alice’s honor to the American Cancer Society or Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
