Delores Ann Downey, 80, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 5:48 pm January 19, 2023 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

She was born March 8, 1942 in Dahlgren, Illinois to the late William Williams and Patricia (Garrison) and Leon Douglas. Delores married Charles Walter Downey on August 21, 1960 in South Hickory Hill Church in Mount Vernon. They were blessed with fifty-two years of marriage before he preceded her in death on December 2, 2012.Delores is survived by her daughters, Paula Nave and husband, Michael of Mount Vernon and Amy Downey-Bybee and husband, David of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Amber Labrie and partner, Mack Dodig, Kerianna Nave, Nissa Nave, Elana Nave, Tessa England and partner, Doug Rhoads, Cecilia Nave and fiancé, Chance Miller, and Molley England; great-grandchildren, Malachi Labrie, Carrie Labrie, Emily Labrie, Joran Labrie, Johnovan Pisula, Aubrianna Miller, Zander Miller, Aaliyah England, and Marcie Rhoads; siblings, Harold Douglas of Mount Vernon, Jacque Nondorf of Centralia, and Linda Floyd and husband, Don of Opdyke; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, mother, step father, and husband, Delores is preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Charlotte Cross; brothers-in-law, Stan Cross and Bob Nondorf; niece, Lisa Withrow; special grandmother, Flossie Garrison; and mother and father-in-law, Walter and Anna Downey. Mrs. Downey retired from Courtesy Cleaners as a seamstress. She loved to sew and also enjoyed cooking. After retirement, Delores was a foster grandparent until 2022. She was a member of South Hickory Hill Christian Church since she was 12 years old. Delores didn’t know a stranger. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed.

A Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel in Woodlawn, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am.
