MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Vernon Police Department is investigating a Sunday morning incident that sent one person to Crossroads Community Hospital for treatment of stab wounds.

Police reports indicate a hospital employee contacted them around 4:20 a.m. Sunday about a male patient in the emergency room who had been stabbed four or five times.

The employee advised told police the male victim was brought to the hospital by his parent and allegedly the victim was “very intoxicated”.

The victim reportedly is not cooperating with police, which is making the investigation into the stabbing difficult.

No arrests have been made and a condition report on the victim was not available Monday.

Anyone with information on this case is encouraged to contact MVPD’s non-emergency line at 618-242-2131 or Jefferson County Crimestoppers at 618-242-8477.
