JACKSON COUNTY — A 40-year-old Murphysboro woman was arrested Thursday after allegedly making threats with a gun outside the Jackson County Courthouse.

Marjorie J. Parrish was formally charged Friday morning in Jackson County Court with Class X felony for making a terroristic threat, Class 3 felonies for carrying or possessing a firearm in a prohibited location and threatening a public official, and Class 4 felonies for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and aggravated assault of a state employee.

According to a press release from Murphysboro Police Department, officers responded to a report Thursday afternoon of a female subject allegedly possessing a firearm outside the courthouse.

Officers arrived on the scene and arrested Parrish before transporting her to the Jackson County Jail. She’s next due in court on May 9, for a preliminary hearing and first appearance with her attorney.

The incident remains under investigation and additional charges could be filed.
