JEFFERSON COUNTY COURT — Attorneys announced in court Tuesday they’re ready for trial in the Jefferson County case charging a 43-year-old Evansville, Indiana woman with murder stemming from the 2022 shooting death of 46-year-old Cadias [kad-ee-us] Jackson at his Dix, Illinois home.

Jury selection is set to begin Tuesday in the trial charging Retha McIntire with three counts of First Degree Murder.

In March, a Jefferson County jury found Treyaveon Massie guilty of Jackson’s shooting death. He’s scheduled to be sentenced later this month.

The two were arrested in September after Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Jackson’s home in the Rolling Meadows Trailer Park where they found him suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

He was transported to Crossroads Hospital where he ultimately died from his injuries.

The initial investigation revealed the offenders fled the scene in a white van with Indiana plates.

Sheriff’s Deputies and officers from Mt Vernon Police Department stopped the vehicle in Mt. Vernon and arrested Massie and McIntire.
McIntire was reportedly driving the white van when it fled the murder scene.
