The Washington County Fair continues today and it is a big day for the kids. From 2 to 4 PM it is Kids Day on the Fairgrounds. It’s free and they can milk and lasso a cow, have a scavenger hunt, explore grains, do a haystack search, play taters in the sand, have ice cream and get goodie bags. Then at 5:30, it’s Farm Olympics on the infield. Registration is at 5 and it is free, but it is for teams of 4 to 8 kids, from ages 11 to 18 and the senior division is 19 years old or older. The competitions include water fetching, bale stacking, scoop shovel racing, nail driving, seed spitting, butter toss and an obstacle course. In the evening there is only a kiddie tractor pull at 7 o’clock, as well as something fairly new says President Dan Heggemeier. A couple years ago they started having a night of free music and it has been successful and tonight it will be the Beaucoup Bottom Band, set up by the concession stand and everyone is invited to bring their lawn chairs and listen. Earlier in the day, the 4-H Dairy show and judging will be at 10 AM. Again, there are the carnival rides and plenty of concessions. Also, booklets are available throughout various locations in the county.
