Guilty Verdict Given in Mt. Vernon, For 2 Class X Felony Charges

A jury in Jefferson County has found 32-year-old Jonathan Bieniek, of Mt. Vernon, guilty, on his 2 counts of predatory criminal sexual assault, to a victim under 13-years-old.  Bieniek was at the Jefferson County jail since his arrest in January, where he was charged with 2 Class X felonies and had bail at $200,000.  Jurors in the case were selected last Tuesday, with opening argument son Wednesday, and the case being ruled on Thursday.  The jury came back with a guilty verdict on both counts.  An arrest warrant was secured for Bieniek, which resulted in an investigation, led by Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies.  Those investigations started up on December 7th, 2018.  He will remain at the Jefferson County Jail until he is handed over to the Department of Corrections.  A sentencing was also scheduled for July 18th, with his Class X felony charges carrying a prison sentence of between 6 to 30 years in prison for each.
