The Okawville Heritage Days festival is this weekend, sponsored by the Heritage House Museum Association.  The 37th Annual Heritage Days Festival, at the Schlosser House backyard, will have homemade craft activities, including butter churning and bread baking, live turtle races and backyard bowling, great homemade food, live entertainment, a flea market, vendor and craft areas, along with a town-wide yard and rummage sale.  Some food available Friday and Saturday will include apple-wood smoked pork, buttered noodles, and German style potato pancakes.  The 4th annual Okawville soda festival will once again be back this year, with several new varieties of old-fashioned glass bottle sodas.  Some flavors feature Excel Bottling’s Peppermint Snow, Fitz’s Grape and Cream sodas, along with 11 other flavors, going up against last year’s top voted favorites, Zubre CocoFizz and NeHi’s Peach.  Back by popular demand is the selfie scavenger hunt, which will happen Saturday afternoon at 1pm.  Cash prizes will be offered.  Some of the bands that will be performing this year include Soul Shake from 11am to 4pm on Saturday, Sunday at 1030 a new group called the Heart Strings, then the Venedy Band from 1130 to 130pm on Sunday.  Also an action auction will be done on Sunday at around 2pm.  For more information, call Jacquline Bening, the tourism coordinator for the village of Okawville at 618-243-56-94.
