A former Mt. Vernon church youth director is facing charges of murder, in regard to the death of her 70-year-old boyfriend.  Bail is set at $500,000, for the former youth director at the Mt. Vernon Church, 41-year-old Wendy Denzler, who allegedly shot Richard Blake back on June 11th.  She is facing 5 counts of 1st-degree murder, one count of 2nd degree murder and a count of obstruction of justice, all inside of Bond County.  Denzler apparently moved to Sorento recently, was the former youth director at the West Salem Trinity United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon.  According to Bond County Sheriff’s Deputies, they received a late morning report on June 11th of a suicide, involving a firearm.  After investigating for 3 days, they determined that Denzler shot Blake and took her into custody.  Prosecutors alleged that Denzler shot Blake in the head with the handgun, then lied to investigating deputies, when she told them that he committed suicide.  Her next court appearance was set for July 11th, for her 1st appearance in court and her preliminary hearing, with her court-appointed attorney.
