The Washington County Board met on Tuesday for a regular monthly meeting. During that meeting, there were 2 resolutions approved for the highway department. The two projects are 50/50 aids for 24-inch culvert replacements. One is at Maryland Road in the Ashley Road district and the other is at Radom Road for Du Bois Road district. This past month, there were $85,000 claims against the county, which is a usual month. Also at the meeting, there were several re-appointments for county fire district boards in Washington County. That included Dennis Kuhlengel in Addieville, Harry Berger in Ashley, Ed McGee in Centralia, Dr. Shawn Beckemeyer in Coulterville, John Brink in Hoyleton, Kevin Huge in Irvington, Dick Shew and Richard Schuette in Nashville, Wayne Borrenpohl in Okawville and Donald Etling in Tilden. Also reappointed to the Southern Illinois Mas Transit was John Schubert, John D Reynolds to the Irvington Sanitary District, Catherine Combs and Dr. John to the Board of Health and Eric Capagna and Matthew Bierman to Washington County Hospital Board. It was announced that there still is an open position on the Washington County Hospital Board. Under the 9-11 committee report, it was announced that Janessa Rhymer was a new employee, who started this past Monday. Lastly under businesses, the board elected to table the ordinance flood damage prevention and a resolution to apply to participate in the National Flood Insurance Program. The next county board meeting in Washington County is scheduled for Tuesday, May 14th.
