The Nashville District 99 Board of Education met last night for a regular monthly meeting.  To kick off the meeting, they approved temporary summer workers of Cody Bauza and Grant Pedke, plus, six people spoke in front of the NCHS board in support of the school’s high school basketball coach Doug Althoff.  That included a statement from Renna Ruggles, who was not present, Jay Schubert, Brittney Pinky, Captain Mike Curry, Blake Ahlers and Krystal Althoff.  All these individuals were in support of Doug, who has been the head coach of the basketball program since 2014.  There were multiple resignations, including Hailee Williamson and Jean Orr as National Honor Society sponsors, Jennifer Olsen as a Lifesaver sponsor, Allison Lietz as Special Education aide, Jean Orr as Cross Country coach and Kelly and Emily Kuberski as the Cheerleading coaches.  The NCHS Band was approved to perform at Busch Stadium in ST. Louis on May 31st, where they will play, “God Bless America,” and the Art program was approved to take a field trip to the St. Louis Art Museum.  Also approved were updates on fees for the 2019-2020 school year.  That includes Chem 1 and 2, for an increase from $15 to $20, English 4 Honors from no fee to $12, Principles of Technology from $30 to $40, and a $15 fee for a new class at NCHS, called Working Planning Commission.  The Board heard a resolution that would give the district a loan of $310,000 for working cash fund.  The loan was for a rate of 2.5437-percent, and for 3-years, with no tax increase.  That would begin for the tax year 19, payable by December 2020.  An approval was given for a loan from Working Cash to transportation for the new mid-bus, which is now at the school.  A purchase of technology equipment for the 2019-2020 school year was approved, which includes order’s being placed for chromebooks for the district.  Also they gave the okay to purchase an LED panel, which is basically an updated smart board for $3,000.  In case any other teachers like these new panels, there could be a future purchase of them for other rooms.  Finally the board had one item tabled for next meeting, since the 2019-2020 NCHS handbook had a few changes.  After meeting for 4 and a half hours in closed session, a few personal decisions were made.  Doug Althoff was approved to remain as the girl’s basketball coach, Tesha Mashoff and Eric Patton were approved to become the new National Honor Society sponsors, plus 2 resignations, including Charlie Heck as an assistant softball coach and Carly Middleton as the co-singers coach.  To finish off the meeting, superintendent Brad Turner stated that the Baccalaureate will be on May 19th at 2pm for high school seniors and graduation will be a week later on May 26th at 2pm at the NCHS gym.  The next board meeting for NCHS District 99 will be on May 20th.
