Southern Illinois University has announced that Randy Dunn will be stepping down as the school’s president. The school announced on Friday that Dunn has agreed to a voluntary separation and will be paid a 6-month severance of $215,000. Dunn has been criticized over the past few months over his handling of a proposal to shift $5.1-million in state funding from the school’s Carbondale campus to the campus in Edwardsville. The Carbondale faculty senate passed a resolution on Tuesday, that accused Dunn of working to undermine the current SIU system. The board of trustees at SIU are expected to meet today to finalize the separation, which will become effective on July 30th. Dunn was hired back in 2014 as president, with his final day working being on Tuesday. He is expected to be hired as a visiting professor at the campus in Edwardsville on January 1st. He will be paid annually on that new position at SIUE $100,000.
