Cinder blocks have been reinforced with concrete and metal bars, following the incident of 3 men breaking out of a jail in Southern Illinois. A public meeting was held on Tuesday night, as White County Sheriff Doug Maier explained about his department’s response to the June 16th escape. All 3 men have been captured, but 2 of the 3 men were on the run for 3 weeks, before they were caught. Maier says that a 10-foot fence, lined with razor wire has been build outside the jail. They also had a new jail administrator be appointed. The inmates broke out in an area hidden by beds and out of sight by guards. The sheriffs says that a guard heard a knock, as the inmates broke down the wall, but he did not suspect the noise to be related to an escape.
