A woman from Centralia is asking for the public’s help, in regard to finding the owner of a dog who bit her grandson on Thursday at the Walmart parking lot in Centralia. She initially was asking for help online through Facebook, but now the Centralia Police Department is seeking additional information on the case as well. Officers say that they are trying to locate the aggressive dog, and those individuals who left with the dog, after it attacked the woman’s grandson, who was a Walmart employee. According to police, surveillance video shows the 18-year-old employee, who was gathering carts, where he had no provocation to the dog, but the animal came up and attack the teenager. The person with the dog reportedly intervened to get the dog off of the employee, as the employee was being helped back to the store entrance. The person who assisted him ran back to the car, with several other people and the dog, inside of a vehicle that is being described as a tan or light-colored station wagon. The employee, who was not identified by police, was then taken to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries. The woman continued saying that her grandson had to undergo surgery, and if the dog is not found, the young man will have to endure a series of rabies shots. Anyone who has any information on this case is asked to contact Centralia Police at 618-533-76-02.
