Kaskaskia College is expanding in Nashville.  Dr. Jim Underwood tells WNSV that they are expanding, but this began long ago.  They began making plans for having extensions throughout the district as enrollment increased and they wanted to cater to the student and their needs.  Thus, he says, they created the extension sites throughout the district, including the one in Nashville, which is rented.  But, enrollment has increased 80 percent since then and the need for expansion has led to a campaign in Nashville for a new 12,000 square foot center, which will be located on Illinois Highway 127 next to Alco.  Underwood says it will have a student lounge, large soundproof classrooms, a large open computer lab, a science lab and a medical section to begin their CNA program in Nashville, as well as 3 business incubator rooms.  The project is expected to cost just over $3 million, but funding of nearly $1.8 million has been procured and donations of nearly $350,000 came in from the kick-off event last Friday, for under $1 million still needed.  He says the goal is to have the funds raised and construction begin in May 2014, with a completion time of 1 year later.
