The Nashville High School Music Department has been invited to perform with another college in the Spring.  Music Director Steve Browne says the percussion ensemble was invited to perform with Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Percussion Ensemble Concert on April 4, 2014.  He said they will get to perform 1 or 2 songs and then might join the college’s group for a number.  Browne said word of mouth got around about Nashville’s music program and he also played percussion at SIUE, so Percussion Director Dan Smithiger made the invite.  Earlier this month the NCHS Choir got to open for the SIU Carbondale Choir at their concert, as well as some of the students join the college choir for a song.  In other NCHS music news, the results came back from the Illinois Music Education Association competition on Monday in Highland.  Out of the 23 students that auditioned 3 made it.  Browne says that is Alex Orr for Trumpet, James Waugh and Jacob Wacker for bass in choir.  They move on to a regional competition.  If they are chosen after that round, they will get to perform at state.
