Earlier this week, the Nashville Education Center’s Capital Campaign Committee held its first meeting to discuss plans for the fundraising campaign. The fundraising team leaders were updated to the current status of the project and advised on how to make the capital campaign as effective as possible. Kaskaskia College President Dr. Jim Underwood gave a brief overview of the project’s progress, which now includes $354,754 in pledges for the new building in Nashville, since the campaigned kicked off 2 weeks ago at that site. The project costs $3,055,000, but $1.77 million was procured through the issuance of bonds, leaving a goal of $1,285,000 to be raised by next May. This leaves approximately $930,246 needed to allow the bidding process to begin. KC would like to see the building completed by Summer of 2015. The meeting also provided the group with the organizational structure of the committees and the roles of the campaign co-chairs, steering committee and fundraising team leaders. Join me Sunday morning for an interview with Dr. Underwood on the reasons for the expansion in Washington County, as well as at the other extensions in other counties and what this new building will bring to the Nashville community. It’s the V Magazine at this Sunday morning.
