The United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Stephen R. Wigginton, reported yesterday that Justin A. Vangilder, of Shiloh, Illinois, was indicted by a federal grand jury for possessing unregistered destructive devices.  The indictment alleges that on October 3, 2013, Vangilder possessed three unregistered explosive destructive devices more commonly known as “pipe bombs,” which comprised of plastic or metal pipes with end caps containing energetic material, smokeless powder, fuses and shrapnel.  The charge carries maximum penalties of 10 years in prison, a $10,000 fine and 3 years of supervised release.
