The Illinois State Police out of District 13 report a minor personal injury crash yesterday morning on Illinois Route 15 east bound at Howard School Road in Washington County involving a semi tractor trailer truck. According to the preliminary report, 40-year old William D. Wix of Taylorville, Illinois was driving east bound on Route 15 near Howard School Road when he swerved to avoid striking an animal in the roadway. The right side tires of the semi dropped off of the paved portion of the roadway. He lost control of the semi and went off of the roadway onto the shoulder where the truck overturned. None of the load spilled, but it had to be off loaded before the semi could be up righted, so one lane of Route 15 was closed for a short time for cleanup of the crash scene. Wix was transported to Crossroads Hospital in Mount Vernon with non-incapacitating injuries and was charged with improper lane usage. Earlier this month there was a fatal car accident near the same spot. According to that report from ISP, 28-year old Travis D. Braddy of Walnut Hill was allegedly driving a car while possibly under the influence. For an unknown reason, Braddy drifted off of the right side of the roadway, overcorrected and crossed the west bound lane. The car skid into the ditch and began to roll. Braddy was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Washington County Coroner Mark Styninger.
