The Oakdale School Board of Education met Tuesday night and Superintendent Ryan Wamser tells WNSV that they rehired Wendy Bergmann as the volleyball coach again.  They also approved new exterior doors for the building at a cost of approximately $30,000.  This is a safety measure and they have some grant money to help pay for the doors, which have less glass on them and are better than the existing exterior doors.  Wamser also addressed the 2013 State Report Card, which showed the school with an ISAT score of 59, down from 89 the previous year.  While this is low and some of the problems are with the standards being set so high, as many other school administrators have reported, he says they are a small school and scores like this can be misleading.  For privacy requirements, there must be 10 students in a classroom for the score to be counted, otherwise it basically names those kids.  Also, 1 low score can really affect the overall score, compared to a school with hundreds of kids in a class.  Not every class meets that 10 student limit at Oakdale.  Also, Wamser said they have 44 percent of their students as low income and 19 percent as disabled for the 2012-2013 school year.  Enrollment just went up as 5 more children moved into the area this week, so that figure is at 85 now.
