Construction is underway on a planned $65 million building at southwestern Illinois’ Scott Air Force Base. The Belleville News-Democrat reports officials broke ground Wednesday on what will be a 165,000-square-foot headquarters for the Defense Information Systems Agency for the continental U.S. The agency’s workforce includes all branches of the military, as well as civilian employees and contractors. The headquarters at the air base near Mascoutah will house nearly 900 workers and feature a cafeteria and exercise area. Construction is to be completed in late 2015.
