Yesterday was the day for candidates for the March 18, 2014 Primary Election to file to be on the ballot. There were people lined up when the doors to the Washington County Courthouse opened yesterday morning. There will be a lottery between Republicans for Sheriff between Michael Renth and Danny Bradac to see whose name will be on the ballot first. Democrat Harry Berger is unopposed at this time. Current Sheriff Charlie Parker is not seeking re-election. For Treasurer on the Republican side, there will be a lottery between Kelly Cameron and Andrea Renken. The position of Assessor was an appointed one, but is now an elected position and there will be a lottery between Republicans Sharon Kolweier, the current Assessor and Sharon Harre Mewes. For County Board District 2, there is no lottery between Democrat incumbents Theresa Kurwicki and Willy Spenner, as they will appear in that order, and Democrat Alan Hohlt is unopposed as that is pick 3. In County Board District 3, two Republicans, incumbent David Meyer, Board Chairman and Douglas Bening, will not need a lottery to see whose name will be first on the ballot for the Primary Election. Meyer will be first. All others that filed are unopposed at this time. Candidates have until 5 PM next Monday to be on the March ballot.
