The Kaskaskia College Dairy Judging team is a winner again, coming home as the first place team at the North American International Livestock Expo recently held in Louisville, Kentucky. This is the team’s second national win of 2013 and second in a row after claiming the top spot at the International Postsecondary Dairy Judging Contest held in Madison, Wisconsin earlier this year. In competition, team members judge different breeds of dairy cattle, looking for characteristics distinct to each breed. They must then defend their reasons. KC students Morgan Wendling of Altamont, Brett Woker of Greenville, Dylan Reed of Vandalia, and Jessica Telgmann of Strasburg made up the team. Aaron Heinzmann, Director of the Agriculture program at KC and faculty sponsor of the Dairy Judging team again thanked the students for their hard work and dedication, as well as all the support they have received from producers in the area.
