The Memorial Park Board met in Nashville last night.  They held a Truth in Taxation meeting on the tax levy ordinance before the regular meeting.  Then during the regular meeting they approved the ordinance asking for just over 32 percent, much higher than previous years, but they were getting less and less in the past when asking for low amounts.  President Steve Fletcher said this request was to try to get the maximum allowable.  The requested amount would be for $283,272 for the General Fund, the Recreation Fund, the Insurance Fund, the Social Security Fund and the Auditing Fund.    The other big topic was the 2013 pool report, which showed lower income than last year according to Fletcher.   Pool passes were up from 123 to 131 this year.  The total revenue for the year was $40,345, down from $43,373 in 2012.  Day admission was down nearly $1,600, but it was very hot last summer with the drought and there were many days with rain this year.  Evening admission was down nearly $500, while concessions were down nearly $600 from last year.  Lessons revenue was down just over $100 and pool party revenue was down nearly $200.  There are some recommendations for work to be done before next season and that includes painting the lap pool, cleaning up the pumphouse, purchasing some new lounge chairs, as some are in bad shape, and providing some shade to the intermediate pool area.  Also, the Blue Racers Swim Team will host their organization’s conference in late July.  The last time this occurred was 6 years ago.  The next meeting will be on January 6th at 6 PM.
