Services are set for a southwestern Illinois man who was working as a civilian aircraft mechanic in Afghanistan when he was killed by what his brother said was a rocket explosion at a U.S. air base. Kenneth Haas of Belleville tells the Belleville News-Democrat that 64-year old Albert Haas was killed November 29th at Bagram Air Force Base. Kenneth Haas says his brother was a Vietnam veteran who volunteered for duty at Bagram, working on helicopters and fixed-wing airplanes. Albert Haas’ employer, AAR Airlift of Palm Bay, Florida, flew his family to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to meet up with the man’s casket.
