State Representative Charlie Meier is urging state retirees and retired teachers to pay close attention to fast approaching deadlines to file appropriate paperwork related to their healthcare through Medicare Advantage, some as early as this Friday.  Last Tuesday, Representatives Meier and John Cavaletto held a seminar with the Department of Central Management Services Bureau of Benefits – Group Insurance Division to discuss options available, what retirees need to do to sign up or opt out, and a question & answer session for specific situations.  Over 200 people attended that meeting.  For those retirees who were unable to make the meeting, the presentation on-line at www.cms.illinois.gov and click on the TRAIL Program link.  Additionally, CMS has created a hotline to help answer any questions.  Retirees needing assistance can call 1-800-610-2091 between 8:30 AM and 4 PM, Mondays through Fridays.
