The Washington County Board met yesterday afternoon for their monthly meeting and had a light agenda, but handled many issues.  The Washington County Treasurer Ronda Groennert made her quarterly report to the Board.  She said a total of 97 percent of the $18,860,405.90 has been collected.  The final disbursement will be after the tax sale, which will be on February 10, 2014.  Delinquency reminders were mailed the end of last month and certified letters will be mailed out on January 8, 2014.  She said she has good news from the State, as the state was behind in payments for certain salaried positions, but has been making payments and are paid up through October.  Supervisor of Assessments, Sharon Kolweier also made her quarterly report to the Board.  She said everything is moving very well and talked about the multiplier, as it might be negative, but it is very close to being a one again, so she is going to let the state apply the multiplier this year.  The Board approved both of their reports.  Mitch Burdick was appointed to the Southwestern Illinois Planning Commission and Cathy Seiving was appointed to the Washington County Board of Mental Health.  Building Committee Chairman Gary Suedemeyer told the Board about the progression of the new Courthouse building with most of the painting being done and much of the lighting in.  The Board will be taking a tour before their January meeting.  They will also be looking at bids for the moving of certain offices from the current building to the new building.  Animal Control Committee Chairman Jeff Evans reported to the board that they will be conducting interviews for a new Animal Control Warden next week, as they did not renew the past warden’s contract.  The interim warden is Burrell Bleisch.
