Residents of a southwestern Illinois community say they’ll rebuild after last month’s deadly tornadoes. The Belleville News-Democrat reports residents of New Minden are cleaning up from the November 17 twister that killed two people. The storm was one of two dozen tornadoes that crisscrossed Illinois. Reverend Tim Mueller is the pastor at the heavily damaged Saint John’s Lutheran Church and says workers are making small repairs, but most of the work needed to fix the roof won’t happen until the spring. Mike Kemp owns Kemp’s Corner convenience store and says the business likely won’t reopen until after the New Year, but he adds: “We will be back.”
