Bail has been set at $150,000 for a 17-year old resident of One Hope United, who was arrested Tuesday morning by Centralia Police for alleged sexual assault of a 12-year old girl. Phinique L.D. Jones was formally charged in Marion County Court yesterday morning, with two class x counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Victim Under the Age of 13. According to Centralia Police, the alleged assault took place Monday night at an abandoned house near One Hope United. The alleged victim reportedly suffered injuries from the incident and was taken to the emergency room at Saint Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia for treatment. She was ultimately transported to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in Saint Louis where the review team investigates deaths and serious injuries to children. If convicted, Jones could face between six and 30 years in prison on each class x charge. Judge Mark Stedelin ordered Jones to have no contact with the alleged victim, appointed Jones a public defender and scheduled a January 14, 2014 preliminary hearing.
