The Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal has learned about a serious risk of fires or electric shocks caused by a specific artificial Christmas tree exclusively sold at Menards stores. The chain of stores has ordered a recall of 1,800 pre-lit Christmas trees due to a few incidents involving overheating, which could lead to fires or may cause electric shocks. The recalled trees sold under the Enchanted Forest brand are 7 ½ feet tall with 400 champagne-colored diode lights, model number 287-1261 and its UPC code is 741895425478. People who believe to have purchased this specific Christmas tree should look for both numbers printed on the box and on a red tag attached to a tree branch. The OSFM advises consumers who bought that particular tree to unplug it immediately and return it to any Menards for a full refund.
