The Kaskaskia College Nashville Capital Campaign Steering Committee met yesterday at Buretta’s for their monthly meeting, getting updates on the financial status, as well as what projects and events are being planned for fundraising. KC Vice President of Administrative Services Nancy Kinsey, who is handling the finance of the Steering Committee, gave an update on the fundraising. She says money is coming in, but they still want to meet their goal of having work begin in May. To do that though, they need to raise nearly $842,000.
She says they have raised over $443,000 and the school has allocated $1.77 million of the total $3.05 million project. One way to raise money will be through an engraved brick for the courtyard at the new center. Another project is an auction with mouse races in March at the Roland Barkau Golf Course. Details are still being ironed out. Dean of Arts and Sciences Kellie Henegar told the committee that they are working with the architects on designing the interior of the building with dark blue and green carpeting, tiles and vinyl flooring in the labs and other areas. The floor at the entrance to the building will have the KC emblem. The interior walls will be subtle colors, nothing standing out.
