The Nashville Chamber of Commerce is having their annual membership drive. Executive Director Kerri Huge says she sent out over 300 letters to businesses, groups and agencies in Nashville and parts of Washington County. She talked about what the Chamber offers, which is to promote business in Nashville and around Nashville, keep it vibrant and alive and for the members it’s a good way to be involved in the community, network with others, get your name out there and join a camaraderie. There are currently 119 members, but would like to have more involved. The Chamber also promotes Nashville as a great place to live and raise a family. Some of the big events they sponsor include the Fall Festival, the Chicken & Beer Dance on February 15th, the Volunteer of the Year Banquet/Roast, Reality Day for 8th Graders, a golf outing in the Spring, as well as a couple of events featuring the holiday shopping season. A couple of items the Nashville Chamber has to promote dollars staying local include the Nashville Dollars and Chamber Savings Cards. The Nashville Dollars can be purchased at the Chamber Office and then spent as real money at nearly every business in Nashville. The business then gets reimbursed, dollar for dollar, from the Chamber. The Savings Cards have approximately 50 businesses with savings of $500 or more. Both make great gifts.
