The Nashville High School concert band performed at the Illinois Music Education Association Convention on Saturday morning. They auditioned against at least 100 other bands and were 1 of 3 high school bands chosen to perform. They performed after the Marion Grade School concert band on the big stage. Music Director Steve Browne says no matter how much they plan or practice, something always goes awry, saying that it never does go to plan, but he was very, very pleased with the way they performed and in fact the most memorable moment was when they got a measure off from each other on the last song, but they amazingly got back together afterwards. Browne says they have been practicing these songs for nearly 6 months and it is time to put these 4 songs away, so there will be new songs for competition and the spring concert. They may bring a couple back for the Disney Trip or Concert on the Square. WNSV made a recording and will try to find time next month to broadcast it for those who missed the concerts. Stay tuned for that. This was a large undertaking for Browne, the musicians and school, and he had thanks for everyone involved, especially the School Board and administration. After the performance featuring 4 songs, the band was able to visit the exhibition hall. This area featured schools, music shops and fundraising organizations. The students could visit with prospective schools about pursuing music careers or purchase equipment or music.
