Southwestern Illinois authorities say a 33-year old truck driver was killed when his delivery truck was hit by an oncoming freight train.  Donald Stahl, of Smithton, died Friday afternoon near Freeburg in Saint Clair County.  Freeburg Police Chief Stanley Donald says Stahl’s box truck drove onto the tracks around 12:30 PM.  That’s when it was hit by a southbound freight train, which had 32 cars and an engine.  The train’s engineer told police Stahl didn’t appear to hear the train’s whistle.  Officials with the Canadian National Railway are investigating.  Donald says the crossing doesn’t have a gate, sign or lights.
